Customers have until Sept 30th to catch up on past-due water bills—without paying late fees
Updated 9/2/2025 12:03:58 PM

In response to strong customer participation, Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) is extending its summer late fee waiver through September 30, 2025, giving residents and businesses one final chance to resolve past-due water bills without added penalties.

Since the program launched on June 1, more than 6,000 customers have taken action — including over 5,300 who enrolled in flexible, interest-free PromisePay payment plans and more than 650 who paid in full. Together, participants have saved $568,522.17 in waived late fees, making it easier to catch up and stay current.

This limited-time promotion builds on SWBNO’s broader payment plan initiative, launched in early 2024, which has already helped more than 23,000 customers. To date, the program has recovered nearly $19 million in past-due revenue with another $24 million scheduled to be recovered through payment plans. Nearly 90% of active plans are on track, demonstrating that when customers are given flexible options, they follow through.
