SWBNO continues replacement of water valves in Desire area; expect low water pressure Wednesday night
For Immediate Release
July 23, 2019

NEW ORLEANS – The replacement of two water valves continues in the Desire area; work that may lead to low water pressure overnight Wednesday for nearby residents and businesses.

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) performed similar work on July 20, and the same area is expected to be impacted: properties surrounded by Almonaster and Florida avenues and France and Alvar streets.

The work will take place between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday to minimize the impact on our customers.

New Orleans’ water distribution system has hundreds of valves across the city that can be opened or closed to isolate sections of pipe that may need to be repaired or replaced.

These repairs are often complicated and involve addressing aging infrastructure. We are grateful for our customers’ patience as we work to improve the water system.

Please see attached a map of the affected area shaded in blue.
