Emergency Repair on 43-inch water main on S Dupre; Slightly Lower than Normal Pressure Possible
For Immediate Release
November 21, 2022

Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) crews will have to perform an emergency repair, which means we will have to isolate a 43-inch water main located on 1400 S. Dupre St. on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Beginning at 8 a.m. crews will be closing a 43” water main that supplements much of the water supply to the Central Business District and the Garden District resulting in potential lower-than-normal water pressure.

While a significant pressure drop is not anticipated, some customers may experience slightly lower than normal pressure. The repair is expected to last at least twelve hours.

The 43" water main is one of six large transmission mains that supplements water to much of the metro area, which means there are redundancies in the water distribution system.

While the repair is underway, crews will monitor water pressure throughout the city. If pressures dip below 20 psi, we will notify the public of the need for a precautionary boil water advisory.

Customers who are experiencing low or no water pressure should always call our Emergency Call Center at 504-52-WATER; we are open 24/7 to serve you.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to maintain your water system.
