Municipal wastewater is water that has been used (also called sewage) by a city or parish's residents. It is conveyed in a sanitary sewer system (separate from the stormwater drainage system) to a wastewater treatment plant. Sewage is treated at the wastewater treatment plant and discharged into receiving water.
